June Troop Kitchen Car Update

As we swing into June the Sanilac County Historical Society's "Troop Train" is speeding into the depot of final preparation for the grand opening on July 6th.
Both volunteers and paid staff have been working in the car since it's arrival on the museum grounds back in 2022.

My work has been consistent since then with working on everything from door repair, rust mitigation, window replacement, building custom cabinets and installation of them.
The last few weeks have seen more painting, weather proofing, floor restoration and soon milling logs to boards with my chainsaw mill.

These boards will be made into baseboard trim from trees sourced on the museum property that I cut down.
Troop Kitchen Car K-102 will be standing ready for service by July for the display of the historical military collection. This would not have been possible without CSX Transportation and my late friend Chad Thompson making arrangements for the donation of this car back in 2019 to the Port Huron and Detroit Railroad Historical Society. I later became the last President of the Society and gathered some great people together to get this car a new home in Port Sanilac, Mi.
